During the Fall 2014 semester, the University of North Carolina at Asheville began offering academic coaching services through the Writing Center. Unlike tutoring, which focuses on building knowledge and skills within a specified subject, academic coaching seeks to develop practical skills such as time management and study strategies applicable to all areas of study. The goals of this project are two-fold. The first set of goals is the development of an evaluation tool for students and coaches to assess the effectiveness of the program, targeting the communication of concepts and skills between students and coaches. The second goal is to supplement the program's existing knowledge base with a literature review of publications addressing coaching strategies, methods, and evaluation tools.
