Ramsey Library serves as both a social and educational focal point of the UNC Asheville community. As such, it is vital that it is kept at functional standard of accessibility for all patrons. To understand how inclusive the Ramsey Library institution is, we have performed a comprehensive evaluation of its accessibility. This evaluation included but was not limited to the availability of assistive technology (screen readers, magnification tools, etc.) the ease of access to various resources within the library (books, DVDs, etc.), and the overall level accessibility to the physical structure (entrances, pathways, parking, etc.). Additionally, we researched how the library’s actual inclusivity matches the population’s perception of its accessibility. We found that while some specific areas were adequate, overall there are major deficits in accessibility existing in Ramsey Library.
